Recently in Oval we proposed the 16 personalities test and it was interesting to see how the profiles were matching most of our views of the team members. When Alessia turned out as "Adventurer", it made sense to think about how her eyes were shining when she was talking about caving and the nights under the stars during her recent trip to Oman.
But there's more that makes her as enthusiastic: gym, food... and software development! She is a super determined girl, waking up at 6 AM every morning to exercise, then coming directly to work! And surely this determination helped her conquer her space in a sector generally dominated by men.
One year of Alessia, in numbers:
🏋🏻♂️ 200+ pre-office gym trainings
👩🎤 5 different colours hair dyes done
📣 10 relatives/ friends who download Oval on her advice
💻 170 PR opened
1. What was your idea of Oval before you started?
I did not know Oval before joining it, so I documented myself before the first interviews and I immediately liked what I saw: a young, entrepreneurial and full of challenges reality ... exactly what I was looking for!
2. After a year in Oval, how has this idea changed?
Not much, the challenges are certainly not over and this is the beauty!
3. Which aspect of the team impressed you the most when you joined?
The feeling of being part of it from the first days was a pleasant surprise: the welcome and the family atmosphere are the characteristics that I hope the Oval team will never lose.
4. What is your favourite thing to do outside of work?
I juggle my passion for sport (gym, cycling, hiking, mountain biking, climbing) and my passion for cooking (pastry and the world of leavened products are my weak point) . But I also like reading great classics and going to the cinema.
5. So tell us immediately your favourite quote!
"I am Mr. Wolf, I solve problems" (Pulp Fiction).
Actually, I feel a bit like Mr. Wolf because my job is also aimed at solving problems 🙂
6. What did you study?
I studied electronic engineering, and before that I attended scientific high school. Numbers and technology have always been my passion.
7. What did you do before coming to Oval?
I worked in IT consultancy, the exact opposite of Oval from the point of view of involvement and love for the product I develop.
8. What characterises your desk? What cannot be missing?
A cup of coffee or hot tea cannot miss. I also wish there was a plant on my desk, but unfortunately I don't have a green thumb 👎💚
9. What was the best present you ever received? And the worst?
The best was a trip to Tunisia for my graduation.
The worst, yet another pair of wool socks... 🧦
10. Can you tell us about one of the most exciting moment for you in Oval?
Easy, the first time my code went into production! ✌️
11. How did you use your training budget? Have you been to any interesting conference?
I was at a 3-day conference on React-Native in Poland last September ... an experience to remember, not only because technically stimulating, but also because it allowed me to get to know my colleagues better!
12. What is your favourite Oval perk and why?
I love sports of all kinds so I have no doubts: OvalFit, which allows me to stretch my legs during lunch breaks, and yoga classes that calm both the mind and the the body.
