Discover tips and tricks on how to save and invest money by Oval Money

January is famous for being dark, miserable, and about three years long.
Many of us will be throwing ourselves (with varying levels of enthusiasm) into our New Year’s resolutions and finding ways to improve on our past bad habits.

If this sounds like you, then we’re happy to announce that we have just released a new savings step! If you're looking for a little extra gym motivation then look no further. This new step has just made it possible to combine your health and your wallet with absolutely minimum fuss.

Introducing the Fitness Step

This great new option means that you can integrate your ‘New Year, New You’ fitness regime into your wealth building strategy.

You can set up this savings step to set aside money in two ways:

1.     Save every time you either take a certain number of steps in a day (such as the recommended 10,000 steps a day), or every time you cover a certain distance (such as 5 km) a day. When you reach your goal you set aside your desired amount of money!

2.     If you are more of a stick than a carrot person, you can even set up the step to save money every time you don’t reach your target; offering great motivation to get up off the couch!

How do I set it up with my Android?

To begin, you need to download the Google Fit app. If you don’t use Google Fit you can easily hook up your third party app to a Google Fit account so that it registers all your activity.

To set up the step go into your Oval account, scroll down until you find the card labelled “set up savings steps based on your habits” and click on it. Set up the step labelled "accumulate with Google Fit" and then decide on your savings parameters.

You will be asked to specify which Google account you want to link to and then your step will be up and running. As will you, quite literally.

How do I set it up with my iOS?

To begin, you don't need to download the Apple Health app as its already  installed on your Apple device. If you don’t use Apple Health you can hook up your third party app to an Apple Health account so that it registers all your activity.

To set up the step go into your Oval account, scroll down until you find the card labelled “set up savings steps based on your habits” and click. Set up the step labelled "accumulate with Apple Health" and then decide on your savings parameters.
