“Looking good doesn’t have to cost the earth”. We’ve all heard it, and we’ve all rolled our eyes at it. Looking good is actually quite a costly enterprise, especially if you’re always chasing what’s hot and what’s not.
What we will say, however, is that the revolution is coming! As we millennials start to ‘come of age’ and open our own businesses and change the way in which we make and spend our money, finding cool affordable clothing is becoming easier than ever. We’ve listed a few of our favourite brands that we think make shopping and saving an achievable balance.
Home grown European talent; Hawkers is a start up straight out of Barcelona. Founded by a few friends with next to no experience in the glasses industry, they have taken the big players by storm and totally flipped the industry on its head. Traditionally, the big companies like Luxottica, Safilo, or Marcolin have owned almost all glasses companies. What Hawkers have done is taken on these giants by creating cool, wearable, styles that everyone wants to get their hands on, for only a fraction of the cost.
Look your summer best for as little as 25€ a pair (and yes, they do deliver to the UK).
Going since 1984, Uniqlo isn’t exactly the ‘new kid on the block’ anymore. The reason we love it, however, is that it still provides totally on fleek fashion at affordable costs. You can get your look without breaking the bank, and best of all – there are no oversized logos stamped all over their clothes just for the hell of it. In fact, the thing we love most about Uniqlo is that there is no logo on their clothes whatsoever.
What you pay for is awesome fashion and great quality clothing, not to be a free walking billboard for the brand.
Another opportunity for you to express yourself without spending all your hard earned cash.
Ok, we appreciate that AOSO isn’t exactly a brand; it’s a beautiful paradise where every brand we know and love, and those we have yet to discover, are all brought together for us to explore!
The best thing about ASOS is that is it really easy to use. With clear filter options you can limit yourself to clothes that are within your budget without having to trawl through any torturous temptations.
In addition, it not only has a great house brand collection, but it also showcases some awesome smaller brands that you can’t find on the high street. For us, ASOS is as great opportunity for those who want to look and feel good about their wardrobe, but who have to live on a tight budget.
The free delivery and returns don’t hurt either.
We all know that saving money is important, and it’s something that we at Oval advocate strongly. We want you to have a healthy savings account; it’s what we’re about. However, living in a bin bag is also not an option. There are ways to feel good about your wardrobe, and yourself, without spending all your income. Like we always say; it’s all about balance.
